community projects

Aside from the eighty children that are constantly attended at RUMO, the organization also have social programs in the community that help in total over 2000 people. Some of the programs are:

Healthful Pregnancy: promotes orientation to pregnant women because of the high number of pregnancies that come from the lack of knowledge on how to prevent them. The objective is to decrease the infant mortality rates, better the quality of life of the babies, and decrease future pregnancies.

Project Family Matters: promotes therapeutic care to parents of the children attended at the school. The program is made individually to each parent to help them understand the importance to create a bond between the school and the family for the better physical and emotional evolution of the children.

To Dedicate: promotes the mothers of the school to go to it to work as volunteers, helping with the day-to-day work, in exchange RUMO offers transportation and basic food items. This project is meant to improve the mothers’ self-esteem, their interest in going back to school and bettering themselves, and also to guide those mothers into the work force.

Encouraging the Practice of Sports: helps to decrease school drop-outs, drug abuse, violence, idleness, and teenage pregnancies. All of the before mention are constant problems that teenagers have at the “barrio” and the program gives them a way to get out of them by helping them with team uniforms, balls, gloves, and organization of sports events with the help of the community center.
