Student Success Stories:
Leandro de Souza Franca
Leandro came to RUMO in 2006 displaying speech and fine motor development substantially behind children in his age bracket. Additionally, he was hospitalized regularly with pneumonia and bronchitis. In the classroom, Leandro was having difficulty with socialization and displayed hostile behavior towards his classmates and teachers.
Through the efforts of RUMO and the BR-111 Foundation, Leandro has undergone extensive psychotherapy and has been diagnosed with several phobia disorders. Continued treatment has all but eliminated his phobias and today he has learned to express his anger verbally, without hostile outbreaks. In the classroom, he is well adjusted and independent while performing at grade level with his peers.
Special thanks for Leandro's success must also be extended to Roberto Gil, purchasing manager at BR-111, who since 2007 has personally sponsored the boy’s school expenses and future college education. Thank you Roberto!
