“We make a living by what we get.
We make a life by what we give”
Winston Churchill
The Rubens Moraes Educational Institute RUMO initiated on the 23rd of May,
a program to help build a soccer team for all children and teenagers of Bosque dos Lenherios neighbourhood in Piracicaba. Forty sets of
soccer uniforms, and soccer balls were donated for the game.
In order to make this program official, Bosque sports committee will make sure that all children participating in this program are registered in school and properly attending classes full time.
“We believe that through this initiative we are helping needy children in developing their social skills, self esteem, discipline and finding personal fulfillment. Most of all we are preventing school dropout, which is very common in lower income communities. We need to stimulate the community generating positive changes,” stated Viviane Romano, president of the institute.
“This accomplishment was only possible because we counted on caring partners who share the concern in helping the less privileged with us,” concluded Romano.
RUMO launches school sports area.
During the second half of May, RUMO conducted one more project to benefit all children of the school. With the help of all employees, parents and volunteers, a new sport court was painted and completed throughout an entire day. All the materials and paint to accomplish this project were donated by a local sponsor, owner of “Ulitintas Inc.,” a paint shop in the neighbourhood. Thank you to all participants for helping the school to conquer one more dream.
Without you, this would not be possible.
Feijoada, a traditional Brazilian cuisine.
Feijoada is a delicious combination of rice, black beans and pork. During the cold season in Brazil, this traditional Brazilian dish surely helps to keep you warm. For a small fee RUMO organized a dinner party for the neighbourhood, and all proceeds went towards the school. This fund will help the school continue to develop projects and programs for all children.
